A new season of archaeological expeditions has started at Ushynsky University

A new season of archaeological expeditions has started at the Department of History of Ukraine of the State Institution "South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky". In recent years, they have become widely known due to significant scientific results and unique archaeological finds. The first expedition began its work in early June at the Kartal settlement in Reni district of Odesa region near the village of Orlivka. The head of the expedition is Doctor of Historical Sciences Ihor Viktorovych Bryuyako.

The second expedition, organized jointly with the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IA NAS of Ukraine), began work on June 24 on the territory of Primorsky Boulevard in Odesa. Scientific supervision is provided by Doctor of Historical Sciences Andrii Krasnozhon and Doctor of Historical Sciences Svitlana Ivanova (IA NAS of Ukraine).

Both expeditions are multi-year research projects, distinguished by the scale of research and at the same time serving as an important component of the archaeological practice of Ushynsky University history students.

Despite the difficult conditions of martial law and the peculiarities of work in the frontline region, the Department of History of Ukraine continues to provide field practice and involve students in real scientific activity.

It is too early to talk about preliminary results. However, both the Kartal archaeological site and the object on Prymorsky Boulevard have repeatedly surprised researchers with unexpected and extremely valuable finds. Therefore, there is every reason to expect that this year's season will bring new discoveries, and for young researchers of Ushynsky University it will become an important stage of professional development and scientific research.
