Psychology Day at Ushynsky University

In Ukraine, psychologists celebrate their professional holiday annually on April 23. Before this date, during the week of April 20-24, 2026, events were held to celebrate the All-Ukrainian Psychologist's Day at Ushynsky University.

As part of the celebration, a number of events were held for higher education students and scientific and pedagogical workers of the University.

Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Psychology and Social Sciences, Doctor of Psychology, Prof. Oksana VDOVICHENKO held an interactive session "How to study and teach during war: psychological safety and care for yourself and others".

A video link “Psychological Transformations of the Personality of a Military Psychologist in Wartime: Challenges and Resources” was held, moderated by Tetyana LAZORENKO, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology, and Alyona GRABAR, Head of the Combat Stress Control Group of the 36th Military Brigade, Military Psychologist for Psychological Support of Servicemen during Rehabilitation and Recreational Activities, Sloviansk.

A presentation of experience in the art therapy field in working with children with special educational needs “From Theory to Practice. How to Find Yourself in the Profession?” was organized by Hanna VENGER, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Mental Health.

Workshops were prepared by:

Candidate of Psychology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of General and Differential Psychology Tetyana ULYANOVA “The Role of a Psychologist in the Formation of Psychological Resilience”;

Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 053 Psychology, Assistant Professor of the Department of General and Differential Psychology Olha KERTSMAN “Practical Skills of a Psychotherapist: From Theory to Live Contact”.

Master classes were held:

Candidate of Psychology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology Iryna POSPELOVA and Candidate of Psychology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology Iryna MELNYCHUK held a master class “Body-Oriented Approach as a Tool for Supporting Psychological Health (on the Example of Breathing Practices)”;

Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 053 Psychology, assistant of the Department of General and Differential Psychology, practical psychologist Yulia RUDOMANENKO conducted a master class “Integration of the Shadow”;

“Metaphorical associative maps in the work of a psychologist” was conducted by Alyona OGNEVA, senior lecturer of the Department of General and Differential Psychology, practical psychologist.

A series of round tables were organized:

“Character accentuation and temperament type as determinants of the choice of anxiety correction techniques” was conducted by Iryna GOLOVSKA, candidate of psychological sciences, associate professor, associate professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology and master of the 1st year of full-time education in specialty C4 Psychology, EPP “Practical Psychology. Extreme and Crisis Psychology” Yevhen TORUBAROV;

Lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology, practical psychologist Iryna KARPICH held a round table “A psychologist begins with himself: working with internal images through metaphorical associative maps”.

Lectures-discussions were held:

Dr. of Psychology, Prof., Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology Oleksandr SANNIKOV held a lecture “Features of using typological properties in the professionalization of the personality of a future psychologist”;

Dr. of Psychology, Prof., Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology Anatoliy MASSANOV held a lecture-discussion “A model of overcoming psychological barriers of the personality in crisis states based on the integration of the ideas of Stoicism and Buddhism”;

Assistant Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology Anastasia BARANOVA held a lecture-discussion “A person in the modern world: psychological challenges and internal resources”;

“Psychological Contract: Meaning, Expectations and Impact on Work Motivation” was conducted by Iryna ROZINA, Candidate of Psychology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Practical Psychology;

Associate Professor, Doctoral Student of the Department of General and Differential Psychology, Practical Psychologist with Clinical Specialization, Provider of Psychological Assistance to Veterans since 2022 (Registered by the Ministry of Veterinary and Psychiatry) Olesya BORYSOVA conducted a lecture-discussion “Moral Trauma of Ending Life”;

A lecture with elements of the training “Mental Health Without Illusions” was organized and conducted by Andrii BORTOV, Assistant Professor of the Department of General and Differential Psychology.
