The lecture “Development of Ukrainian Graphics and Spelling in a Historical Context” by Druzhynets Maria Lvivna, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Language Training for Foreigners of I. I. Mechnikov Odesa National University, will be dedicated to the development of Ukrainian writing — from the most ancient forms of graphics to modern spelling.

The lecture will examine the key stages of the formation of the alphabet, highlight the influence of historical events on language norms and changes in spelling. The focus will be on the unique letters of the alphabet and spellings, starting from the 11th century, as well as on the formation of spelling at the beginning of the 20th century.

Particular attention will be focused on the formation of modern Ukrainian spelling and its role in cultural and national identity.
