Students of the Faculty of History and Philology visited an exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident

On May 7, students of the Faculty of History and Philology visited an exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the Chernobyl accident. This year marks 40 years since the Chernobyl accident, which left a deep mark on history and changed the lives of millions of Ukrainians. The exhibition is designed to preserve the memory and remind us of the consequences of the Chernobyl tragedy.

The director of the Odesa Museum of Regional History, Yurii Slyusar, gave a very interesting and informative lecture to future historians and philologists. The students noted the importance of preserving the memory of the cost of the Chernobyl disaster, which is still an unhealed wound for Ukraine and is one of the largest man-made disasters in the 21st century. The students learned archival documents, photographs of that time, materials about the consequences of the disaster, as well as the stories of local liquidators. The exhibition shows the Chernobyl region not just as a territory of tragedy, but as a space of historical memory.

We sincerely thank the museum staff and personally Yurii Olexandrovych for the opportunity to visit the exhibition and an interesting lecture!

We hope to meet again in the future!
